Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for icing consistency)
  • Red food coloring
  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Fold into the wet mixture until just combined. Optionally stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 28–32 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Allow cooling completely.
  6. For icing, mix powdered sugar with milk and add red food coloring for a “bloody” look.
  7. Cut brownies into squares, drizzle with icing, and top each with a candy eyeball.
